The Montagu Arms Hotel
The Montagu Arms Hotel provides a wonderful retreat, a place of serenity from the hustle and bustle, a great base to explore the beautiful New Forest and an indulgent treat for you and your loved ones.
What is the secret of the quintessential English country house experience? We think we know – opulent, comfortable, intuitive surroundings, roaring fires during the winter, direct access to our gardens during spring, fabulous food and drink year-round.
Visitors arrive to oak panelling, polished, herringbone parquet and the tick of a longcase clock. While away a half hour with coffee and the papers in our Victorian-style Magnolia Lounge or take tea in the conservatory overlooking the garden.
We source ingredients that reflect our love of the landscape that surrounds us and use them to craft dishes that will excite even the most discerning of diners. Our flavours are familiar foodie favourites, but always with a taste of the unexpected.
Choose from the Terrace Restaurant, our elegant wood-panelled dining room; Monty’s Inn, our relaxed country pub welcoming families and pets; or enjoy an alfresco lunch in our charming English country garden.
Upstairs we have 22 en-suite bedrooms and outside in our renovated barn are 2 duplex suites overlooking the garden as well as 9 courtyard rooms. Each room is different, some include four-poster beds, and every one is designed to make you feel completely at home.
Outside is just as restful. Take a turn about our Gertrude Jekyll-inspired gardens, listen to the pond fountain designed by Giuseppe Lund, play a game of croquet on the upper terrace or take a look at our kitchen garden.
Don’t be surprised if you walk out of our front door to be greeted by a line of ponies or donkeys – this is the New Forest and the gentle beasts roam where they will! Across the way is Beaulieu’s magnificent Palace House and the National Motor Museum. The world-class Exbury Gardens (a favourite with Her Majesty the Queen) are a short drive away, as is the ancient village of Buckler’s Hard and the New Forest’s beautiful ‘secret’ coast – gateway to the challenging sailing waters of the Solent.
