A sensational setting

The rolling hills of the South Downs National Park are home to a new restaurant, bar and tasting room set in spectacular historic chalk vineyards in the village of Hambledon.

‘The Restaurant at Hambledon Wine Estate’ is the latest perfect pairing for England’s oldest vineyard and its spectacular sparkling wines.

Vast windows bathe the restaurant in natural light and frame a landscape of vineyard slopes, a classic view.

A head chef with an impressive Michelin pedigree

The restaurant team is led by head chef, Nick Edgar, previous head chef at ‘Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons’ and ‘The Samling’ in the Lakes where, after just nine months, he was awarded his own Michelin star.

Nick and his team will be curating ever-changing menus for the new restaurant, championing seasonal produce sourced from the rich local larder, from the estate’s own kitchen garden and hand-foraged locally.

The menu

The sample menu includes starter dishes such as: butternut squash, apple and blue cheese risotto; or grilled fillet of mackerel with soy and honey glaze and pickled mooli.

Main courses include: roasted loin of Hampshire venison, dauphinoise, pear and juniper; or wild mushroom fricassee with parmesan gnocchi and crispy kale for mains.

For dessert: warm rhubarb Bakewell tart with vanilla ice cream and ginger custard; or flavours of the Black Forest with cremeux, sour cherry and marzipan ice cream.

We’re delighted to see Hampshire Fare members, Moon Roast Coffee and New Forest Tea being served alongside the petit fours! They also stock our member Hydes Cider as well as their own award-winning sparkling wine of course!

The restaurant opened in early February with lunch and dinner served from Wednesday to Sunday.

There’s a lunch set menu and a special set menu for Sunday lunch.
