Hola Bar Lento – the taste of Spain in Winchester
We’re delighted to welcome Winchester’s Bar Lento to Hampshire Fare!
The Bar Lento team serves delicious, authentic Spanish cuisine with a distinctly Mediterranean vibe – and a hidden gem of a garden at Southgate Street!
Lento translates from Spanish as deliberate, not hurried, slow. The bar certainly does its name proud – but with the buzz that you’d expect from a bustling tapas bar where food, friends, laughter and sharing are the order of the day!
Congratulations to Bar Lento winning the New Business Category at Winchester Business Excellence Awards recently – very well deserved!
Bar Lento uses local amazing Hampshire produce alongside ingredients imported by their speciality suppliers ensuring the menu includes all the classics you’d expect alongside a changing selection of specials.
They’re open every day from early until late serving coffee, pastries and traditional Tostada, Tapas and Bocadillo and evening Tapas.
An absolute treat is their Spanish Sunday Feast – with wood-fired, flame-grilled cooking on their Vulcanus Grill (another Hampshire Fare member.) Picante gordal olives, pan con tomate, Iberica pork loin, butifurra Catalan sausage, roast patatas crushed with rosemary and extra virgin olive oil, wood-fired red peppers, grilled cavalo nero – and veggie options too.
The wine list is extensive with an Iberian-twist – a few names will be familiar, but they also have something new and interesting for those who feel a bit more adventurous.
Sherry is, of course, the perfect partner to Tapas and, as you’d expect, they have a quality range to explore. If you don’t yet know your Fino from your Pedro Ximénez, enjoy the wonderful world of sherry with the bar team here.
They also have a Mediterranean cocktail selection – the customer favourite is Seville 75 – and they brought their Aqua de Valencia recipe back from a recent visit to the Fallas Festival!
