Wicor Primary unveils Field Kitchen Festival for British Food Fortnight

This autumn, Wicor Primary School will make history with a first‑of‑its‑kind celebration: a full‑scale field kitchen festival involving every one of its 437 pupils. As part of British Food Fortnight 2026, the school grounds will transform into a vibrant outdoor kitchen where children harvest, prepare, cook, and share the fruits and vegetables they have grown throughout the year.

Each year group has been responsible for cultivating its own produce from root vegetables and leafy greens to orchard fruit and heritage varieties,creating a true farm‑to‑fork experience that brings learning to life. The festival will see pupils working side‑by‑side with leading chefs, artisans, and local food champions in a hands‑on celebration of British seasonal food.

Alexia Robinson, CEO and Founder of Love British Food, praised the school’s long-standing commitment to food education in the organisation’s 25th anniversary year: ‘Every year I rejoice in hearing all that Wicor Primary School has organised for British Food Fortnight. They have taken part for many years. There must be hundreds of children now who, thanks to the vision of Wicor’s teachers, have learned about how food is grown, grown it themselves, and appreciate the joys of fresh, delicious British seasonal food. Wicor is an inspiration to all.’
