So while the days are short, and the great outdoors holds less appeal, why not head out in search of a cosy pub, maybe a roast, a real ale and a roaring fire. Perfect to while away a wet and windy Sunday afternoon.

The Cricketers Inn
The Cricketers Inn is a charming English country pub in Steep, a Hampshire village in the South Downs National Park.

The Duke on the Test
The Duke on the Test is a historic inn which is cosy, comforting and contemporary – with creative dishes that focus on their area. Dishes that honour the best of quality, flavour, and locally-sourced fare. Their heartwarming winter dishes include the likes of confit of Gressingham Duck and Slow Cooked Beef and Ox Cheek Ragu Tagliatelle.

The Four Horseshoes
The Four Horseshoes Pub is attached to an old working Forge, in the village of Nursling near Southampton.
Their chefs are all about classic and inspired seasonal cooking, amazing steaks, fish and the all traditional Sunday Roasts.


East Stratton, near Winchester
The Northbrook Arms
The Northbrook Arms is an independently owned pub located in East Stratton, a village situated about eight miles North of the historic city of Winchester.
The Northbrook has a relaxed traditional pub atmosphere, both dog and family-friendly. It even has a games room kitted out with an interactive darts board and pool table – perfect for a catch-up with friends.

The Wykeham Arms
Sandwiched between the Cathedral and the 14th century college in the heart of the stunning historic city of Winchester The Wykeham Arms is surrounded by heritage. Their menu is a seasonal mix of high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients and a fantastic selection of ales and wines.

Old Portsmouth
The Still & West
The Still & West is an iconic Hampshire pub, Grade II listed and right on the waterfront at Old Portsmouth. The views over the harbour, with it’s warships, dinghies, speedboats, super yachts and ferries coming and going makes it very special.
Their menu features pub classics crafted from fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Burley, New Forest
The White Buck
The White Buck sits in a spectacular location in Burley in the New Forest National Park, serving delicious, home-cooked food.
Mains include the likes of: mixed seafood stew with salmon, coley, cockles, mussels and king prawns, coconut & lime served with grilled focaccia; Pappardelle with rabbit, mushrooms, grain mustard, peas & Parmesan beef burger with Monterey Jack cheese with London Pride braised onions, burger sauce, rocket, gherkin, tomato, kohlrabi coleslaw and served with triple-cooked chips.
