The capital of The New Forest
Lyndhurst
A picturesque village, Lyndhurst is the capital of The New Forest. William the Conqueror established it as a royal hunting ground in 1079 and it was visited by kings and queens staying at the Royal Manor throughout the centuries.
But the Lyndhurst of today is a buzzing, vibrant spot with a great food and drink culture. It’s a must-see if you’re visiting The New Forest.

Lime Wood Hotel
Lime Wood is a spectacular five-star luxury country house just 90 minutes from London, and 20 minutes from the coast.
Spacious rooms, surrounded by nature, feature breathtaking views while their spa is dedicated to natural wellbeing and inspired by its forest surroundings.
Chefs Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder do the cooking, pulling together their styles at the Lime Wood restaurant Hartnett Holder & Co. Together with their team, they create locally-sourced Italian dishes with a respectful nod to the seasons and served with a relaxed vibe.
This is the ultimate countryside getaway, just a dash from the city – perfect for those looking for a forest escape.

The Noble Bee, New Forest Honey
Furzedown Farm Conservation Area is the home of The Noble Bee which has apiaries not just across their farm and woodlands but also in specially selected spots around The New Forest.
Their commitment to thoughtful hive placement in natural wild areas of the Forest allows them to harvest honey that captures the essence of the forest settings, resulting in the delicious, award-winning honey that they are renowned for.
Noble Bee collaborates closely with local conservation groups and country estates – ensuring the majority of their hives in dedicated nature reserves boasting an incredible diversity of wildflowers.
The result is honey that not only tastes incredible but also contributes positively to the preservation of the environment. That sounds like a win-win.
As well as producing honey and honey produce, The Noble Bee also offers bee experience days. Check out their website for details, to book an experience or to buy online.

New Forest Family Butchers
Lyndhurst, West Wellow and Winchester
This family-run butchery business has three shops which are all, in our opinion, exactly as a butchers shop should be.
Specialising in locally sourced, quality meat, Chris, Edwin and Jake have nearly six decades of experience between them and supply delicious cuts along with advice on how to prepare and cook them.
They have an in-house dry ager and deli counter, and sell a host of other products from fresh fruit and veg to pies, eggs, honey, cheese, sauces, seasonings and much more.
The Fox and Hounds at Lyndhurst
The Fox & Hounds at Lyndhurst serves fantastic cask ales and delicious fresh food from this historic former coaching inn.
The pub dates back as far as the 16th-Century when it was an important coaching house on the route between Bournemouth and Southampton. Now part of the Fuller’s Group, the chefs make local produce the hero of this inn, proudly showcasing as much local produce on their menus as possible.
Their meat comes from the award-winning Owton’s Butchers of Southampton, and even the eggs are from just down the road at Fluffett’s Farm, another Hampshire Fare member.
Choose from five cask ales on tap, and an exceptional craft beer range from some of the world’s best and smallest micro-breweries.
You can enjoy it all in the stunning surroundings of the dining area, set around a unique rotisserie oven. Or, if the sun shines, head out onto the suntrap terrace.

The Real Jam and Chutney Company
The Real Jam and Chutney Company uses traditional methods to create their preserves using produce from the heart of the New Forest. They make preserves the traditional way – simple recipes, fresh ingredients, and a lot of care.
But there’s more to their story than great produce. In their kitchen, they create opportunities for people with learning disabilities to gain skills and grow their independence.
With every jar of delicious jam you enjoy at breakfast, chutney you bring home as a holiday memento, or marmalade you gift to someone special, you’re helping support people with learning disabilities to thrive and grow.
